The 2023 Cabernet Franc carries Perenelle’s signature composure held in a refined frame. Deep ruby in the glass, the aromas arrive as a seamless weave: cassis and black plum over cool crushed stone, a dusting of graphite, and a light floral lift. Green peppercorn glints at the edges; a hint of young leather and warming spice appears as the wine takes on air, with a flicker of gooseberry brightness keeping the profile vivid.
On the palate, the cadence is poised and linear. Dark berry and plum move along a cool mineral current; the mid-palate tightens, then lengthens, guided by powder-fine, chalk-tinged tannins. That peppercorn note returns with quiet energy, giving contour without weight, while a clean, mouth-watering freshness keeps everything precise.
The finish tapers slowly, echoing cassis, stone, and gentle spice. Decant to let the detail come into focus, or cellar a few years to deepen the savoury layers.
