The new year is off to an incredible start here at MW Cellars, and we have so much to share with you!

From exciting new releases to being featured at the Great Canadian Culinary Championship, it’s been a whirlwind (in the best way possible).

Plus, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we’ve got the perfect wine ideas to help you celebrate love in all its forms.

🍷 What’s New in the Cellar

• Viognier: With its beautiful aromatics, this wine is already turning heads in the cellar.
  
  
• Rosé made entirely of Syrah: Bright, lively, and made from our Lakeshore Road home farm, this fresh rosé is shaping up to be a showstopper.
  
  
• Chardonnay redefined: We’re working on a textured Chardonnay without oak influence, focusing on expressing Niagara’s unique terroir in a bold, innovative style.
  
  
• Reserve Red Bordeaux blend: Our first true Bordeaux-style blend, featuring all five classic varietals—Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. It’s going to be something special.

This year we're also perfecting how we work with our fruit—matching specific vineyard blocks to barrels, adapting to changes in the vineyard, and getting smarter about how to bring out the best in every bottle.

🍇 2023 Gamay Is Here!

We used our unique "sandwich" fermentation technique—layering crushed grapes at the top and bottom while leaving the middle whole-cluster—to create those fun fruity notes while keeping the wine light and crisp.

Whether you’re a curious wine lover or just looking for something fun and easy to share, this Gamay is the perfect choice.

🏆 MW Sémillon Shines at the Canadian Culinary Championship

Selected by CCC’s National Wine Advisor David Lawrason, chefs unboxed their unlabelled bottles, and created dishes to match our Sémillon. Being part of this celebration of culinary excellence was a true honour, and we’re so proud to have represented Niagara wine on such a prestigious stage.

A huge congratulations to Lizardo Becerra from Raphaël Peruvian Cuisine for winning the People’s Choice Award with a dish that perfectly highlighted the wine’s character.

2023 Gamay: Its playful, vibrant flavours are perfect for a light-hearted Valentine’s toast. Great with a board game and charcuterie board!

2023 Sauvignon Blanc: Refreshing, citrusy, and just the right amount of wild. Notes of grapefruit, gooseberry, and crisp green apple make it the perfect pairing for fresh oysters, sushi, or a lively start to the evening.
